Iteration 1
I explored three design variations, interviewing 6–8 potential users (ages 18–24) for each iteration to test whether the app’s purpose and functionality were intuitive, engaging, and relevant. I asked when they might use the app, what would make it fun, and how it could help them feel heard.
The first two prototypes followed a Reddit-style homepage voting layout, but the competing elements made the experience feel cluttered. User feedback consistently highlighted the importance of clear, compelling visuals for both engagement and a sense of community.
The final design shifted to a visually driven interface, inspired by Spotify’s bold use of imagery. I made strong visual storytelling the centerpiece of the design to capture attention and create connection.
Core Audience
While designed to be inclusive and accessible to everyone, the primary focus is on individuals aged 18 to 35. Research shows that this group consistently seeks ways to engage in civic life and make their voices heard.

The Future & The App
I explored a scenario in which civic authority moves closer to the public. The resulting concept is a community-driven app that serves as a platform for residents to collaborate on decisions, streamlining civic action while strengthening community and engagement.
